There is no railway line heading directly to Saalbach. Visitors wanting to make their way on public transport will find that the easiest method is to make their way to Maishofen or Zell am See and then switch to the public bus services. It is also possible to get buses directly from Salzburg city centre.

Saalbach is easy to reach, with good road links to Germany, the wider Austrian region, eastern Europe and Italy. Parking options vary from hotel to hotel - parking options will be highlighted on each hotel page. We recommend car-sharing wherever possible.

Yes, there will be scheduled rides with the presenters, coaches and special guests that you’ll be able to join.

All of the routes are clearly marked and designed to enable riders to explore and ride at their own pace.

We’re expecting quite a few solo travellers to attend Global Bike Festival. Many of the hotels have single room options that you can book. There will also be lots of opportunities to meet your fellow festival-goers throughout the event.

Yes, there are lots of different routes which riders can explore and ride at their own pace and intensity.

Saalbach has also opened their Learn to Ride Bike Park for rookie MTB riders (young and old) - click here for additional information.

Please be aware that the Saalbach region is a mountainous area and some routes and events (both on and off-road) will include long, strenuous climbs and fast, technical descents. Participation in all rides and events is optional.

Different rides and routes will have different levels of support, but all rides and routes (MTB, Road and Gravel) will have designated feed / support stops where assistance will be available. Roaming mechanical support will be available where geography allows but please be aware that for some off-road routes it may not be possible to get support to you directly or quickly. You should always plan to have enough kit and spares to be as self-sufficient as it is possible to be. Medical support will be available on all routes, and all customers will be issued with emergency contact numbers and / or tracking.

You do not need a race licence to compete, but riders may be assessed to establish appropriate levels of competence and fitness prior to acceptance of entry into the race. Some events may have pre-event qualification (for example, a qualifying time may need to be set over a given course in order to gain entry to an event). We want to ensure the timed events are accessible to as many customers as possible, but in some circumstances the event organiser may refuse entry to the event.

Festival maps and ride routes will be available to download closer to the event.

A schedule of events will be available closer to the event.

We want to make our Festival accessible to as many people as possible. In order for us to best understand your needs please contact us directly info@globalbikefestival.com to discuss how we can help you.

While there will be a variety of rides and routes for all abilities available across all disciplines, it is important that we understand the exact nature of your needs. Please contact us at info@globalbikefestival.com so we can discuss this with you.

While Austria has its own cuisine and customs that may be different to your home country they are very accommodating to all dietary requirements. Vegan and vegetarian options will be available at all hotels.

Saalbach is a fantastic location for a family break, with lots of activities and attractions for partners and children.

Due to the nature of the routes and geography of the region, we do not recommend some elements of Global Bike Festival for riders under the age of 16. Customers aged 17 and under will need to be supervised by adults aged 18 and over at all times.

The Festival village is open to all ages but some event venues will have their own licence conditions and may refuse entry to customers under the age of 18, so we cannot guarantee entry to all Global Bike Festival events for customers under 18. Proof of age may be requested at any time.

Dogs (or other pets) are not permitted on Global Bike Festival rides and at events. Individual hotels will have their own policies regarding pets - please check before booking your package. While it is generally a dog-friendly country, do not assume that Austrian customs and laws regarding pets are the same as your home country, so please check before you book.

Alcohol will be on sale at most event venues, including the Event Village. Purchase of alcohol will be age-restricted at all venues and proof of age may be required.

Large scale events have an inevitable impact due to a number of factors, including transport of customers, staff and equipment, energy requirements, waste and refuse, single use plastics, food and beverage impacts and more. We are working closely with our suppliers and hosts to minimise this impact.

We recommend that all customers look at how they can reduce their personal impact while attending the event, including looking at alternative public transport options including rail travel; car sharing and bus or coach travel; avoiding single-use plastics; being careful with litter; and recycling wherever possible.

Yes, you will need to come to the registration area in the Event Village (times to be confirmed). At registration you will be issued with a festival wristband which will allow you access into the various venues, events, parties, races and onto group rides.
